As is known, the Eos made its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Next week it is going to be on display at Volkswagen dealers nationwide.

The Eos can either be used as a coupe, or with the sunroof retracted, or roof fully down and the name comes from Greek goddess of the Dawn. Right-hand-drive sales are expected to dawn here in Ireland in July or August.

It is referred to as CSC – meaning it has such characteristics as a hard-top coupé, sliding glass sunroof, and fully convertible metal roof. The opening or closing of the electric roof takes only 25 seconds. This method is much easier than the complicated process employed in the Astra, but it does impact in one area. You have just 205 litres when the roof is down, though obviously better with the roof up, increasing space to 380 litres.

While the Eos features new running gear developed specifically for it, it is an amalgamation of Golf and Passat. It is longer and wider than a Golf but has its front suspension while the rear suspension is from the Passat. It is front engined and front-wheel drive. [source:www.athloneadvertiser.ie]
