Its debut was in 1974. It was a simple coupe sports car. Volkswagen Scirocco was based on the A1 platform shared with the Volkswagen Jetta and the Volkswagen Golf. This car replaced the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia coupe. Giorgetto Giugiaro designed the original Volkswagen Scirocco. Its generations were sold up to 1992, and then Volkswagen Corrado replaced them. VW Chief Wolfgang Bernhard is finally putting some flesh into his promise to introduce 10 new VW-branded vehicles by the end of the decade, even though some models haven’t been determined. One that’s made the cut for the 2008 model year is a “new Scirocco,” a reprise of the much-loved 1974-1992 Golf-based hatchback coupes. I think it`s nice when old models get new styles in many years.
