Chevrolet Camaro is definitely less popular than for example Dodge Challenger or Ford Mustang, but nevertheless GM is going to produce the renewed Chevy Camaro!

The work on this version of Camaro concept started at the beginning of year 2005 ( it was a couple of months into Mustang sales, but before the unveilance of a Challenger concept). GM changed the project studio in the middle of the year - now C6 leader Tom Peters was in charge of the construction, and eventually his team came with an alternative design.

Peters says: “About midsummer, Ed [Welburn, GM design veep] asked me to get involved. We got it done very fast. But, the advanced team established the proportions [of the Camaro]”. The changes made were not very important: squeezing the shape and making it more muscular. Peter’s team made the car look like an aggressive street fighter.

The new Camaro is planned to have good sales. The reason for it the the following: The C6, and especially the Z06, is the most desirable and best-reviewed GM product worldwide, but it has precious little to do with the rank-and-file, affordable-class Chevy line. Camaro V-8 will cost $25,000 and would provide sporty, more affordable small-block fanfare.

Camaro is planned to arrive about 2009 or 2010, just in time to compete with the Challenger.
