The new yechnology will be copied from that of Jaguar. The both companies are parts of Ford concern. The first models to be made with aluminium body is Range Rover and it is planned for 2010. A little bit later the new Land Rover Discovery arrives.

Jaguar make their XJ and XK coupes from aluminium. This technology helps lessen the overal weight of a vehicle by 15%. Experts say that it will be possible to make the new Range Rover 2200 kg instead of 2700 kg.

It should be mentioned that first Land Rover models were also made form aluminium. At the moment the company produces Land Rover Defender, which is made from steel with aluminium blocks. This auto debuted in 1983, nevertheless the company plans to continue its productions until 2010.

It was reported a bit earlier that Ford stopped Jaguar’s reseach in the line of aluminium technology. The new S-Type will have ordinary steel body.
