Last week the famous american pilot Steve Fossett stated he wanted to beat the current world sped on land record, which is set at 763 mph (1227,93 kmph). He will try to beat it next year on the salty lakes in Nevada, which are perfect natural surface. Fassett will be piloting a special machine, created to beat the record. The 14-meter-long machine weights 4 tonns and will be equipped with F-4 Phantom fighter engine which has 45 000 hp.

62-year-old Fossett made his fortune as a finansist, but became famous as a traveller and an extreme driver. He set 116 world records, 76 from which are still unbeaten. He is famous for world trips, plane flights, long-lasting sea journeys.
