Volkswagen definitely wants to end all the existing arguments on the topic which “hot” hatchback is “the hottest”. At SEMA-2006 VW showed Golf R GTI pimped up to 400 hp.

The most peculiar thing that the car was based not on 250 hp Golf R32, but an average Golf GTI. With the help of a new turbo compressor Garrett the car’s engine become almost twice as powerful as it used to be.

There are special racing seats and a wheel inside the car. It only lacks a safety framework.

The designers didn’t forget about styling as well - black R GTI has totally carbon body and huge 19-inch wheels with 265/30 R19 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. Nevertheless VW don’t plan to launch the car in serial production.
