Volkswagen showed a special version of a mini bus built on Multivan’s base. The car got its own name “California”, though it would be better to call VW California not a mini bus, but a house on wheels, because it is quite possible to go in a trip round the globe in it!

If you want to know which tendencies prevail in the modern VW line, read about the latest VW concept Neeza In appearance it is easy to distinguish the car by a hard high roof with a small window placed above front glass - there is a spacious sleeping lot there.

The car is very spacious inside; moreover you can use in-built sink, gas cooker, a huge bed, as was mentioned before - a sleeping lot upstairs, a few shelves for stuff, and, of course, a fridge for food and drinks.

The free space in the cars is used to the full. For instance in the back door there are two folding chairs, under the sleeping lot there is a box for stuff which opens downwards; the bigger stuff can be placed in a couple of quite spacious niches.

The height of the car is obvious in turns (the height of the car is 2,5 meters). But VW did their best to reduce the effect by developing the basic suspension system. That’s why now even the bumpiest road doesn’t make feel the car’s passengers feel uncomfortable.

VW California is equipped with a 2,5-litre 174 hp engine. It accelerates the car from 0 to 100 in 13,7 seconds. The fuel expense in city mode is about 10,8 liters and on the road - 7,8 liters. In addition the mechanical 6-grade gear-box, an automatic version is available.
