![]() The Swedish company Volvo has become the winner of the “The Autocar Awards 2006″ in the nomination “Best Auto Security System”. The high-rank award was given for creating and using in serial production a brand-new BLIS system (Blind Spot Information System). The system traces vehicles which are located in so-called “blind spot” while driving. With the help of cameras which are built into a car’s side mirrors, the system watches all the vehicles in the “blind spot” and in case of danger it warns the driver with light signals. While Volvo wins the Autocar awards, Good year was named Best Tires 2006 The system was first introduced in 2001, and within 5 years it is installed as additional option on all Volvo cars. The system costs from $ 850.
