Another stunning concept by Citroen shows how does a car in a near future look like. So the future seems to be beautiful, diesel, hybrid and 4WD. I also wrote about Citroen C-metisse when I described the most interesting concepts of Paris Motor Show

Is there any point describing the appearance of C-Metisse - one of the brightest concepts of the Paris Auto Show? In this case nothing can be more persuasive than photos. Nevertheless at least some words may be said: a very long cowling, dynamic silhouette, almost vertical rear end, huge wheel. The car is very low. At 4740 mm long and 2000 mm wide the car’s height is 1240 mm.

The lights should be described in particular. They stand out not only by spectacular appearance, but also by a progressive diode technology. C-Metisse automatically adjusts the intensity and direction of the light stream according to the angle of turn, speed and external lightning conditions.

The car has a 3,0-litre 208 hp turbo diesel and a 6-grade automatic gear-box. It delivers traction to the front driving-axle, and two electro engines help the primary engine. The car can go on electricity only for some time.

The dynamics of the is really impressive - acceleration from 0 to 100 takes 6,2 seconds. Besides, the driver can use the “Overboost” option which allows using the car’s full potential for a short period of time. By the way such brilliant dynamic features are enabled due to the body of the car, which is made from carbon. The concept got quite light - about 1400 kg.

The electro engines are charged by batteries which are placed in the middle of the car under the floor of the saloon. As all the hybrids do C-Metisse recharges the batteries while braking.

All four doors open up. Designers did the insights of the car in a very futuristic way: there are strange streaks which were created to show the passengers about what is going on in the hybrid transmission.

When you look at such concepts you begin to feel sorrow that these particular cars have no future themselves. Though it is likely that some of the features will be used in serial production. Technorati Tags: Citroen C Metisse, concept car, Paris motor show, hybrid, overboost, AWD, 4WD

Volkswagen showed a pre serial version of VW Tiguan.
The first VW’s crossover got really compact - its length is 4,4 meters, width - 1,85, and height - 1,69 meters (which is almost the same as VW Touran). At the same time the car has quite a long cowling, massive wheel arches and very expressive front end design. The car differs from the serial version by a bright coloring, anti fog lights and 19-inch rims with unique 2-color tires. Moreover, VW Concept Tiguan is equipped with a diesel engine (a new line of ecologically safe engines were created in collaboration with Mercedes and Audi). The peculiarity of the engine is that it uses a special substance Bluetec (urine bases) which neutralizes up to 90% of harmful products of the exhaust gases. The engines come under the name Clean TDI, and VW plans to equip all the cars for the North America with such engines. VW decided to draw the audience’s attention to vans, they created a real house on wheels (VW California) The premiere of VW Tiguan will take place in 2007, and its serial production is to start at the end of 2007. VW promised to publish additional info and price list in a while.
