Though the new generation of Smart has appeared just recently, the German tuning company Brabus is preparing the tuned version of the car. Moreover they are working on a cabrio version.

Brabus Smart Cabrio is likely to get a supercharged 110 hp engine. Not very much? But the serial version has maximum 84 hp. The max speed will increase to 160 kmph. The higher acceleration is electronically limited.

The distinctive feature of the tuned Brabus Smart Cabrio is a double exhaust pipe in the middle of the read end.

The car will be available from spring 2007. It will cost around 36 000 euro. No very cheap, but it should be mentioned that Brabus Smart Cabrio will be released in a limited series.

The Italian company Lamborghini, which is famous for its sportcars, is working on a new crossover (by the unconfirmed data it will come under the name LM 005). Another version of the name is “Lagartijo”, which is more likely for the general line of names of the company’s cars.

A little earlier I wrote about Lamborghini’s intention to build a SUV, so you see their desire came true.

This is not the first SUV in Lamborghini’s history. In 1986 the company built a limited series of 328 LM 002 SUVs. The was equipped with a 5,2-litre 450 hp engine (from Lamborghini Countach), which provided the car with the incredible for those times dynamics - the acceleration form 0 to 100 kmph took 7-8 seconds and the max speed of 210 kmph.

The new model will be significantly different. Its body, set on a high SUV’s chassis, will look like a sport coupe typical of Lamborghini. Insight Lamborghini is a comfortable 4-seat car (the seats are done in leather). It is expected that the car will be equipped with a 6,0-litre 640 hp V12 engine (from Lamborghini Murcielago).

Lamborghini might premiere a concept, which will be a prototype of a new SUV LM 005, during one of the forthcoming auto forums.

Ford has announced the 2007 SUV models. The company will show 5 new SUVs.

Ford Escape and Escape Hybrid

Many people think its a bargain. Ford Escape comes in 4 versions: XLS, XLT, Sport XLT, and hybrid. XLS comes with a 2,3-litre 153 hp engine and a 5-grade mechanic or 4-grade automatic gear-box. XLT and XLT Sport are equipped with a 3,0-litre 200 hp Duratec V6 engine. All the models are equipped with a special 4WD system, which automatically transfers the torque on the axis which at the moment has a better traction. This enables a brilliant stability and fuel economy.

Escape Hybrid was shown in 2004, and it is the first American hybrid vehicle, which became the most economical SUV in the world! The hybrid version’s appearance doesn’t differ from that of the petrol one.

Ford Explorer

Ford Explorer is one the most popular SUVs in the US. During last 14 years the car has been on top of its popularity. Nevertheless it doesn’t prevent the manufacturer from developing the model. The new generation got a chrome radiator bars, new back doors and back lights. In general the car got a new attractive appearance and, probably, will be popular with the buyers.

Explorer 2007 will be equipped with 2 engines: 4,0-litre 210 hp V6 engine with a 5-grade automatic gear-box and 4,6-litre 292 hp V8 engine with a 6-grade automatic gear-box. The car won’t be scared by a serious off-road, because with the Control Trac 4WD system it can easily overcome lots of obstacles.

Ford Expedition

The new Ford Expedition is a huge full-scale SUV. The new generation will be equipped with a 5,4-litre Triton V8 engine, which provides a good traction with low fuel expense. The car is equipped with the Control Trac 4WD system, which enables to choose between the 4 presets of movement types. Another systems the SUV has include AdvanceTrac and Roll Stability Control, due to this systems Ford Expedition has high stability on slippery surfaces.

Ford Expedition is equipped with an additional row of seats, which enables to carry up to 9 passengers. And if the back seats are folded, the car is quite a spacious van.

Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Ford Explorer Sport Trac is a new model in Ford’s pickup line. The car is unique because of its double purpose: it can be a 5-seat SUV and a full-scale pickup with a 4-feet body. Ford Explorer Sport Trac is equipped with a V6 engine and a 5-grade automatic gear-box. The ABS system is installed in a basic complectation.
