Auto spies caught a pre serial version of a new compact crossover Mercedes GLK, which will become the main competitor of BMW X3 and new Audi Q5. At first sight the novelty resembles camouflaged Mercedes GL, but if you look better you will see that this crossover is much smaller in dimensions. It is no wonder, because Mercedes GLK is built on C-class platform.

It is expected that the car will get a 3,5-litre V6 engine alongside with a 7-grade automatic “7G-Tronic TouchShift” grade-box. Besides the car will be equipped with 4WD system 4Matic. It is possible that there will also appear a tuned version GLK 63 AMG with a powerful V8 engine.
The world premiere of the novelty might happen at Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2007 or in spring 2008 in Geneva.

if benz launch the GLK like this they will fail. buyers of premium small SUVs are looking for a more exciting styling language to reflect their inner needs —- and not a luxury truck like the GLK. they got it wrong.
