“Green” vehicle of the year was chosen in the USA.

All the car modifications (hybrid and economical) have their own awards. The one of hybrids is called “Green Car of the Year” (GCOTY) and it is held in the USA by Green Car Journal. On the closing day of the Los-Angeles motor show the winner of the contest was named.

Other car manufacturers want to share the segment of the market with Toyota so they olso build hybrids, like for example Nissan Altima Hybrid

The award was given to Toyota Camry Hybrid, which took the lead over Honda Civic GX, Lexus GS 450h, Mercedes E320 (with Bluetec diesel) and Saturn Vue Green Line.

Last year the winner was Mercury Mariner Hybrid.

Toyota dedicated the award to the leading hybrid project engineer Dave Hermance who died in an air crash some time before. Toyota Camry was also named car of the year in the USA.
