The Japanese company Mitsubishi Motors released the first official shots of the new generation of Mitsubishi Lancer sedan.

The world premiere of the car will take place at the international Detroit auto show. Mitsubishi Lancer 2008 inherited some of the features of the concept Mitsubishi Concept-X, which was shown last year.

For the American market the basic version will be equipped with a 2,0-litre 152 hp engine. The car will get a 5-grade mechanic gear-box.

A little earlier spy photographers caught the new Lancer in the street

The new Lancer is built on the base of the global platform Project Global, which is already used for Mitsubishi Outlander and a couple of DaimlerChrysler’s models.

The novelty will be available in the USA in spring 2007, and by autumn the car will be sold in Europe and Japan. A little bit later the company will show Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
