The idea of creating Bionic, a car that resembles a tropic fish, wasn’t given up after the Frankfurt auto show. “Most extraordinary Mercedes” was brought to ability of moving. The company released the first official “live” pictures of Bionic: they were made during the first drive of the car outside the constructors’ lab, so now the Mercedes experts can claim they have built the first biocar.

The main peculiarity of the car is the usage of bionics methods. As the result the car got by 40% stiffer and by 30% lighter than Mercedes A-Class (which is almost the same in size). It was made possible because the engineers created the car inspired by the idea of fish scales: each piece of scales transfers the pressure to the neighboring ones which allows redistributing the loading on the whole body.

The interior of the car in not that revolutionary, but the windshield is extremely huge: according to the photos, the vision inside the car is almost like from an aquarium. Still the saloon makes it evident you’re driving a Mercedes (e.g. a yellow rim that is situated in the saloon resembles the hidden suspension of the new S-Class).

The car is equipped with a 2,0-litre diesel. Because of the injection of AdBlue fluid into the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system the exhaust matches the requirements of Euro 5 standard. At the same time the ecology didn’t cause significant losses of power- the car has 140 hp without even turbo charging the engine.
