“If today you can see it is Volvo from for example 50 meters, I want to make the figure twice as big”, - says Volvo chief designer Steve Mattin.
One of the cars that can actually make Mattin’s plans come true can be the compact crossover Volvo XC60, which is to appear in 2009. The main features of the forthcoming car can be seen in the concept, which will be shown at Detroit auto show. The prototype of XC60 looks dynamic, modern and distinctive.
The car is really beautiful. The rear lights form a dynamic line if you look at the car from aside, and from other angles they create the impression of compound and rhythmical shape.
The interior of the car is very laconic - the top level of style and elegance, the real Scandinavian design. All the features are typical of Volvo. The central panel is a sensory display with a mirror surface.
The car has one more peculiar feature to add to its multiple advantages - “smart” brakes. In case a car, which goes in front of Volvo, unexpectedly brakes, the system keeps the brakes alert, and if the crash is inevitable, the system brakes automatically. This means will help prevent all the crashes under 15 kmph, and significantly redeem the consequences of crashes under 30 kmph.
