DaimlerChrysler concern showed a new Mercedes Ocean Drive concept, which is actually a prototype of the new luxurious S-class cabriolet. The premiere of the car is to take place in Detroit.

The technical features and peculiarities of the car are kept secret, but some of them are nevertheless known: Ocean Drive will be equipped with a 6,0-litre 518 hp V12 engine.

As has been predicted the car has a textile roof. The material was specially created for the new Mercedes. It will not only protect the passengers from the environmental surprises, but will also improve the aerodynamic features of the car. Moreover, there is no B-pillar and door frames, but the company’s officials claim it won’t affect the rigidity of the body and the containment of the saloon.

Ocean Drive is equipped with a unique climate-control system “Airscarf”, which distributes the air streams so that the passengers will feel comfortable with the roof folded even in cool weather.
