Ford has released the first official photos of the sedan concept Ford Interceptor, which is to be unveiled in a couple of days in Detroit. This novelty, as was expected, is built on the modernized Mustang’s platform. The design follows the style of big 8-cylinder sedans, which were popular in the US in the 60s.

The front end of the novelty resembles the previously released concepts, but Interceptor got the unique radiator grille, divided into three chrome sections.

ford-interceptor-3.jpgAnother peculiarity of the car is a new system of seat belts, which is possible to appear in the forthcoming serial Ford models. The creators say the new system provides a much better protection in case of an accident, but at the same time doesn’t make the process of fastening the belts more difficult. In Ford Interceptor both the front and the back seats are equipped with the new protective system.

As was stated before, the serial production of the car (at least under the name Mustang) isn’t planned.
