The  fact was told by the vice-president of the General Motors concern Bob Lutz claiming that the current generation of Corvette Z06 lags behind its main competitor Dodge Viper SRT10 in the questions of rower. The renewed version of Viper SRT10 is equipped with a V10 with 600 hp (the car has been unveiled in Detroit).

“As far as you know our politics prevents from discussing the future product’s line, nevertheless it is very important for us that Corvette remains the most powerful car in the USA with the best maneuverability” - said Lutz at the meeting with the mass media.

The rumor about the building of the most powerful Chevrolet Corvette appeared a year ago. According to the pre-release data the car will be produced under the name Corvette Blue Devil or Corvette Stingray. It will be equipped with a v8 with 600-650 hp. The car is to be unveiled in 2008-2009.
