Maserati has shown the first official photos of the new GT Coupe.

The premiere of the novelty will take place in Geneva in March. “GT Coupe” stands for GranTurismo Coupe, in honor of the first vehicle of this class by Maserati (Maserati A6, built in 1947).

The coupe is built on the shortened platform of the sedan Quattroporte, the design, done by Pininfarina, resembles the sedan. GT has the similar radiator grille, front lights and cowling design. The rear end of the car resembles that of Aston Martin, nevertheless it looks original and aggressive. The engine line includes the only engine -  4,2-liter V8 with 400 hp (the same as the sedan has). GT will be equipped with a ZF automatic (with a possibility of manual control). They say that the car might be also equipped with a Cambiocorsa gear-box as an option.

There will be a more powerful version. It will be equipped with a 4,7-liter V8 with 450 hp, and will get the name Gransport (the version might get some changes in the exterior as well). Morover, Maserati announced a coupe-cabriolet on the same base. The car will get the name Spyder (the car is due to be shown in 2008).
