However the first car appeared relatively recently, about a century ago. At that time people even couldn’t imagine that cars would manage to take a run up to 250 km/h and even much more, nobody believed that quite soon a car would become not only a vehicle, but also a source of entertainment and pleasure. Then a car was something exceptional, something magic. Today we can call these cars antique, but it doesn’t mean they are inferior to modern automobiles. They are unique in their own way. When the present motor vehicle industry began to develop every step in this sphere caused a sensation. Daimler invented the small high speed motor which is the so called ancestor of present day practice. Karl Benz devoted his life to the development of the gasoline-powered automobile. All these events make people to talk about it, to think about it and to admire. Every novelty was a great event. BMW antique cars illustrate the history of the company and the stages of its formation. In 1933 BMW began to produce the cars that can be called theirs by right. The company offered sports cars and coupes. At that very time some specific features of BMW that later became hallmarks of the company’s models appeared. For instance, the characteristic kidneys or nostrils on the grill were first seen on the BMW 303 in the early 1930s. In this car BMW perfomed an inline-6 engine for the first. Top speed of that car was approximmately 100 km/h. At present time such top speed makes us laugh, but in the early 1930s it was a great achivement. BMW antique cars are considered to be works of automobile art. It is not suprisingly that a great amount of car antiquaries desire to get these cars to their collections enriching them with priceless exhibits.(See also the artilce about BMW m3 hot cars.)
