In a short time the company Daimler will start the tests of the system of automatic launch of the engine, that will make debut in the restyled Smart Fortwo at the end of the next year. This technology was invented to make the car even more economical in terms of fuel.

The new system will automatically turn the engine off when in a traffic jam or at crossroads. At the driver’s touch the accelerator pedal the engine will be launched.

Such a system will be installed on petroleum 1-liter 71-hp Smart (the car is equipped with a 5-grade gear-box).

Moreover they say that the construction of hybrid Smart is almost over (it will be a collaboration of a diesel with an electric engines). The premiere of this car will take place at the end of 2007.
