So far Frankfurt Motor Show has seen a number of big premieres. Yet I’d like to tell you about the ones I consider to be one of the most interesting: new generation of Mazda 6 and BMW X6 Concept.

Mazda 6

Mazda has officially unveiled its new 6-series in Frankfurt. The new company’s cliché “Zoom-Zoom” must impress the audience to see something new and unbelievably modern in the middle-class autos. The new Mazda 6 is to be available in Europe from the beginning of 2008 with two body modifications – wagon and hatchback.

The new Mazda 6 is a totally independent model, designed from “tabula rasa”. The novelty is much bigger compared to the previous generation: the length – 4.75 m (plus 6.5 cm)(the wagon – 4.78 m), the width – 1.80 m (plus 1.5 cm) and the height – 1.44 m (plus 0.5 cm). The wheelbase increased as well and now makes 2.725 m (plus 5 cm).

The body design is flawless…..just flawless!

Curved shapes in collaboration with the sharp design of the lights, wide wheel arches and typical triangular grille don’t give even a slight hint to the previous generation. Everything is made for a modern Samurai, elegantly made for a “Zoom-Zoom” fan.

As for the security, the novelty is filled to the rim. The basic configuration includes ABS, 6 air-bags, braking assistant, track control system, parking assistant, DSC (the system of dynamic control of course stability).

As for the engines, Mazda increased the line and from 2008 it will offer a new supercharged 2.5-liter with 170 hp.

Moreover the line includes the old petrol 1.8 and 2.0 plus 2.0 140-hp turbodiesel. All the variant are equipped with 6-grade mechanic. They say that by the end of 2008 Mazda will unveil the top variant with 3.5-liter V6.

The interior of the novelty has everything to please a driver. The steering wheel is equipped with navigation, audio system, air-conditioning and cruise control buttons. The basic information is shown on the multi-function screen in-built in the central console. Every element is well placed.

The European price of the car hasn’t been announced.

BMW X6 Concept

Another premiere which took place in Frankfurt was the new crossover BMW X6 Concept SAV (Sports Activity Coupe). The car was released in two variants – the first one is close to the serial model; the second is equipped with a hybrid engine.

The new BMW X6 Concept is some kind if mixture of X5 and 4-door coupe being 4.99 m long, 1.98 m wide and 1.70 m high. In its turn, the wheelbase is 2.93 m. In comparison to X5 the car is much bigger, which is more evident by huge wheel arches with 21-inch wheels and slightly “pumped” front end with huge air-intakes.

Alongside the new design the Bavarian company has introduces the new dynamics control system “Dynamic Performance Control”. The system enables to control the base distributing the load on the axes on your own. Moreover, the company has introduced the reliable 4WD system xDrive.
