BMW X6 will be Showed in Detroit

BMW has officially stated the release of the serial crossover BMW X6 (Sports Activity Coupe) which is to take place in Detroit at the beginning of January.

The new X6 is a mixture of X5 and a 4-door coupe with the body size 4.88 m long, 1.98 m wide and 1.70 m high. The wheel base makes 2.93 m. The body design is independent and is represented by a few pumped front and rear end muscles. Alongside the new and quite a peculiar body design, the company is trying to impress the audience with the brand-new system «Dynamic Performance Control», enabling to control the base and distribute the load on axes. Moreover, the model is equipped with the popular system xDrive.

The engine line is quite rich and is represented by 2 petrol and 2 diesel variants.

Let me start with the petrol ones. The basic variant is BMW X6 xDrive35i with 3.0 Twin Turbo R6 with 306 hp and the max torque is 400 Nm. The 0-100 kmph acceleration takes 6.7 seconds and the max speed – 240 kmph. The average fuel consumption – 10.9 liters per 100 km.

The second variant is the top BMW X6 xDrive50i with 4.4-liter Twin Turbo V8 . The power – 407 hp and the max torque – 600 Nm. The 0-100 kmph acceleration takes 5.4 seconds and the max speed – 250 kmph. The average fuel consumption – 12.5 liters per 100 km.

Let me now get gown to the diesels which are BMW X6 xDrive30d and BMW X6 xDrive35d. The former is equipped with a 3.0 R6-engine with a supercharger and the Common-Rail system. The power of the engine is 235 hp and the max torque – 520 Nm. The 0-100 kmph acceleration takes 8.0 seconds and the max speed – 210 kmph. The average fuel consumption – 8.2 liters per 100 km

The last variant is X6 xDrive35d with the same 3.0-liter R6 engine but this time the car is equipped with double supercharger. The power is increased to 286 hp and the max torque – 400 Nm. The 0-100 kmph acceleration takes 6.9 seconds and the max speed – 236 kmph. The average fuel consumption – 8.3 liters per 100 km

All the variants are equipped with 6-grade automatic transmission with the possibility of shifting gears via the levels on the steering-wheel.

The Interior – Sport and Luxury

The interior of the novelty has enough space for 4 passengers and some hand luggage. The front seats are filled with electronics and are managed via a few buttons and the sport steering-wheel is equipped with gear-box levers plus the buttons to control all the major options of the car. The root capacity is 570 l (with the folded back seats – 1 450 l).

The multifunctional driving system iDrive, CD-MP3 player, multi-channel audio-system, DVD-system, navigation system, USB-port, 4-zone climate control, active seat ventilation system, rear-view camera, a number of additional systems like MW Assist, BMW Online and BMW TeleServices – these are a few, but not all the features of the car.

The construction of the cars will be carried out in the US in Spartanburg. The North American market will see the car in April 2008, and the European – at the beginning of summer.
