The recent years have seen so many concepts: some of them very really original but some were truly dead-end. Some of them eventually turned into serial models, some - so to say, too original - remained the only copies. So, is what direction did NOT the world automotive branch go? Renault Be Bop 2003 (Frankfurt and Geneva 2004)
Patrick Le Keman is a great sorcerer who has created a dozen incredible concepts for Renault. And, probable, the most incredible of them are the twins Be Bop. Patrick Le Keman is a chief designer of Renault. According to Patrick himself, such a body shape solves the traditional minivan aerodynamics problem. Pay attention to the picture on the side windows – it resembles a drop, which is the ideal shape from the view of aerodynamics. But specialists decided that the European auto fans are not yet ready to such avant-garde shapes. Thus the concepts find their place in the museum. Suzuki S-RIDE Geneva 2004
The Japanese have created a hybrid of a car and a motorcycle in search of a compact means of transportation. From bikes S-RIDE borrowed the layout of the interior – 2 seats are placed in a line one behind the other. From the automobile – the steering wheel placed in the middle of the dashboard. And, of course, 4 wheels and a closed body. The idea was original but it didn’t have any serial realization. EDAG Paris 2004
The German engineering company EDAG showed a mixture of sportcar and every day automobile in 2004 in Paris. By appearance it really looks like a futuristic sportcar. The car has a wide and low body. At the same time the long rear end of the car slightly surprises: there is either a huge 12-cylinder power unit or a huge boot. In fact, it is a sleeping area for the driver. It is quite peculiar, who needs such a bed-on-wheels? Bertone Villa Geneva 2005
Another unexpected automobile under the name Villa has been created in the Italian design-studio Bertone. Instead of doors and top – 4…how to say …glass constructions which are lifted by electric engines. Looks smart…until a stone gets in this all-glass construction. Nissan Pivo Tokio 2005
Here we go – a movable aquarium. Better to put it this way – a car with a pivoted cabin. This is the solution of maneuvering on narrow streets provided by the Japanese. It looks like this projects will have to get dusty for another 20 years or so. Who knows, maybe one day the humankind will be ready for such solutions.
