MKT has been designed as a big and spacious automobile. The figures prove that fact: the length of the car – 5.3 m, the wheel base – 3 m. There is as much space in the saloon of the car as in the first class of a plane. For the rear passengers there is a special extendable leg rest, owing to which they can drive in a recumbent position. The spaciousness topic is continued by a huge panoramic wind shield which is combined with the top of the car. The control panel is decorated with wood insertions and Swarovski crystals. The body is made with plastic panels.

The concept is equipped with 415-hp 3.5-liter supercharged diesel V6 EcoBoost, which will be installed on other models of the company starting from the next generation. The engineers tuned the engine to work on the ethanol.

Ferrari F430 Spider Bio Fuel

Ferrari can be hardly called a company that does its best to reduce fuel consumption, that’s why its concept was standing alone and modestly in Detroit. The company didn’t hold press-conferences to promote the car; no public pother had been created deliberately for people not to think that Ferrari has created some super-ultra-modern “green” technology. However, the plans to create eco-engines had been discussed. The result of the discussions is the decision to create an engine that will cut the petrol consumption by 40% and reduce emission of harmful substances by 2012.

The unveiled concept works on bio-ethanol and it has been created looking round the corner on all the existing developments in the technology. Taking part in Formula-1 and other types of races gives Ferrari a competitive edge over its competitors – it is very easy to test different technologies on track and later on imply them on open roads.

By the way, in 2011 Formula-1 bolides will use the fuel that is by 5.75% made up of bio-additives. But at the moment the matter is under discussion.

Nevertheless, even today Ferrari stresses the fact that one can prime up to 10% ethanol in the engine of its cars without any changes. In case with F430 Spider Bio fuel, there have been made a few changes in the system of fuel admission and the central processor settings in order to allow the usage of E85. With all these changes and the usage of ethanol the power of the car increased by 10 hp and the max torque – by 4%. Moreover, the harmful emissions reduced by 5%.
