New Dodge Challenger SRT8

The legend is alive! Dodge has officially released the new exclusive-legendary muscle-car – 430-hp Dodge Challenger SRT8 that will come into sales in the US in April. The price – from $40 000.

The pause has been stretching for almost 35 years – there has been no “fresh” Challenger. During this period of time Chrysler were sharing rights for this exclusive masterpiece with the German Daimler. But all these thing are in the past, and the future is obvious. A number of market specialists even now predict roaring success for SRT8 – the figures are simply amazing in their grandeur. And it is no wonder: the novelty literally “barges.”

The Engineering

The new Challenger SRT8 is mighty, bold and beautiful. Under the cowling lies the shifty 6.1-liter 430-hp V8-HEMI-power unit with the max torque of 569 Nm. The engine enables the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. As for the power train, it is carried out with the help of 5-grade automatic transmission with electronic control system that transfers the power to the rear axis where in contact with “hot” asphalt come 20-inch rims with wide tires (the front wheels are also equipped with 20-inch rims). The braking system – by Brembo and is represented by high-performance 4-piston supports and 360-mm plates on the front wheels and 350-mm ones on the rear wheels.

Safety - a serious matter

Dodge technicians insured the safety of passengers to the full. The new Challenger SRT8 is equipped with “extensive” air-bag system (front, side), ABS, ESP with track control, sport safety belts and braking assistant,

The Interior – mass, technology and depth.

The majority of elements are done in black leather (sport seats and steering wheel). The panel – simple divided into 4 multi-functional white devices alongside the major device (which beside all other useful functions enables to trace 0-100 km/h acceleration time, braking distance and engine power during acceleration). Moreover, all the cars built in 2008 will get the exclusive logo “Limited-Edition.”

The novelty is planned to appear on markets in spring. Dodge Challenger SRT8 will be available in 3 colors – “Hemi Orange”, “Bright Silver Metallic”, “Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat”
