New Ford Kuga will be shown in Geneva

Officially - the crossover Ford Kuga will be released in Geneva. The long awaited moment has come

A few days ago Ford has showed the official photos and announced details about the car.

So, Ford Kuga was showed as a concept in Paris, then as half-done series in Frankfurt and now the car is presented in its final version. The basic platform of the car is the same as the models C-Max and Focus have (with slight modifications).

The new Kuga is spacious and has enough space for 4 passengers and some baggage. The boot – compact and its capacity is 360 l, and with the folded back row of seats – 1355 l.

By the moment of its “birth” Ford Kuga will be represented by only one variant – with 2.0-liter TDCi Common Rail-engine with 136 hp (320 Nm and 340 Nm with “Overboost” on) and 6-grade mechanic transmission with AWD. The average fuel consumption – 6.4 l per 100 km.

Ford Kuga will be produced in two filling variants - Trend and Titanium. The serial filling will feature such systems as ESP, ABS, EBD, ARM, cruise-control, multimedia system etc. As for the price, it hasn’t been announced yet.

New Ford Fiesta with premiere in Geneva

The new generation of Fiesta will be shown in Geneva by Ford. The company made this announcement last Monday and showed a few official photos and some information about the novelty.

The new 3-door novelty is very similar to the concept Ford Verve which was shown in Frankfurt – the same lines, the same European plastics. The line of engines will be represented by 5 variants – 4 petrol and 1 diesel.

The basic engine – 1.25 liter 60-hp, then comes 1.25-liter 80-hp; 1.4-liter 91-hp and the new 1.6-liter with 115 hp. The only diesel – 1.6 liter with 90 hp.

As for the model palette, the new Fiesta will be produced in 2 body types – 3-door and 5-door hatchback. The first models will come off the assembly line in the middle of 2008 and will be sold only in Europe. Moreover, before 2010 Ford is planning to release the novelty on Asian, South African, Australian and US markets.

Price in Germany – from 10 000 euro.

2008 Geneva Bible: Rinspeed Squba, Hyindai HED-5, Nissan GT-R

Rinspeed will show the submarine Squba in Geneva.

The concept is brilliant. The manufacture Rinspeed did the trick and send man to the sea depths in the car which got the name Squba.

The concept Rinspeed Squba has been created on the base of the sportcar Lotus Elise and is 3.78 m long, 1.94 m wide and 1.12 m high. The boot is small as almost all its capacity is occupied by a tank with oxygen for underwater trips and the propeller system for underwater movement.

Squba is nothing more than a product of the modern nano-technologies. The body – carbon and special plastic, the engine – 75-hp electro power unit with the max torque of 160 Nm, the interior filling – special water-resistant covering. The weight of the car is 920 kg which enables the max speed of 120 km/h on the ground, 6 km/h on water and 3 km/h under water (submersion up to 10 m). The engine is fed by Li-Ion batteries which are placed in a special box.

To cut the long story short, Rinspeed Squba is an ideal car for James Bond.

The minivan concept Hyundai HED-5 will be shown in Geneva

The company Hyundai is planning to show the extraordinary concept – “plastic” minivan HED-5 in Geneva. The car has been created in collaboration with Recaro, Bayer and LG.

The major task of the novelty is to demonstrate the usage of ecologically clean materials and eco-engine in the automotive industry. Thus, the company Recaro has introduced a set of exclusive and multi-functional seats; Bayer and LG – body elements and the interior filling made of special plastic (the typical material is used for Rinspeed concepts); and Hyundai – the idea and the concept.

Nothing has been said about the eco-engine of the concept as well as about the serial production in future. So we lay all our hopes on Geneva.

The new Nissan GT-R will be shown in Geneva

At the beginning of March Nissan will show the new ultimatum to the European “super-peppers” Porsche – the new Nissan GT-R.

The novelty is equipped with a 480-hp 3.8-liter bi-turbo V6 power unit that enables the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds and reach the max speed of 310 km/h. Power train is carried out with the help of a 6-grade transmission with double clutch on 4 wheels where the power distribution is controlled by an electronic sport-differential.

As for the dynamics of the novelty, the car is equipped with a multi-mode sport suspension, high-performance braking system by Brembo with 380-mm plates and 20-inch rims with 255/40 and 285/35 tires.

The cost of the new Nissan GT-R will start in Europe from 50 000 euro.

The top variant is Audi PPI ICE 4.2L V8 where with the help of a couple of powerful compressors the experts of the company were able to increase the power to 600 hp. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h. takes 5.9 seconds (the series – 7.4 seconds) and the max speed is 295 km/h.

The third thing – dynamics

As for the dynamics, the novelty got ultimate high-performance braking system with 405- and 380-mm braking plates, modernized (by PPI module) suspension which is able to change the clearance in the range of 110 mm (for instance, it can lower by 40 mm or rise by 70 mm), and a few stabilizers. The car is equipped with 22-inch rims of the series.

The forth thing - interior

The interior of the car looks very rich and tailored for Anglo-American contingent, which is explained by multiple possibilities of attaching pocket devices like, for instance, iPhone, Treo or Blackberry. Moreover, the interior is done in alcantara, carbon and leather.
