What is new among concept cars? The Scuderia Bizzarrini Livorno p538 Barchetta is designed by a well-known German artist Stefan Schulze. The designer is working with Giotto Bizzarrini (the head of the company of Bizzarrini and one who has approved the design), with Alan Mertens (race-car engineer), and Kevin Gallahan of Arbitrage Cars. What concerns the name of the vehicle, the part Bizzarrini in the title of this 2008 concept is used to add some feeling of history to the car mainly due to its associations with exclusive performance cars. The Livorno part of the title of the car is referred to the Italian city. As the matter of the fact Bizzarrini Company currently resides in Livorno. And the last part of the title - p538 – is used in order to memorize a 1960’s race car which was built by Bizzarrini in rather limited numbers. The entire underbody and outer shell of the Scuderia Bizzarrini Livorno p538 are made from lightweight carbon fiber, as well as the passenger cell. Powering the Bizzarrini Livorno p538 is a mid-mounted 7.0 litre Chevrolet LS7 which develops 505 hp at 6200 rpm and 475 lb-ft at 4800 rpm. The engine is planned to be in a lattice framework right behind the driver. Highlighting the location of the powerful engine are 8 race-like intake trumpets which poke through the engine cover directly behind the cockpit.
