In the 50s the company has created the models Jaguar XK Mark V, Mark VII., Jaguar XK140. From 1950 to 1960 Jaguar is trying to win the American market, where the models Jaguar XK150 and XK150 Roadster with the engines from 2.4 to 3.8 liters (up to 220 h.p.) have a roaring success. The demand for Jaguars was so huge that the company simply had to open a new plant in Browns Lane.

The 50s were marked by a series of sport victories of the company. The models ?-Type and D-Type equipped with the adjusted engines of XK were winning the Le Mans races for 7 years. The success of Jaguar and Grand Prix in the competition in 1959, 60, 63 and 65 has linked the company’s name with the history of races for ever!

In 1956 the Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II has given William Lyons the title of “Royal Designer of Automotive Industry.” Moreover he was given the title of a royal knight for the great contribution to the development of the automotive branch in the country.

In 1961 the team of jaguar designers started working on the successor of D-Type. Aggressive curves of this sport car were transformed into elegant and stylish shape of the legendary E-Type body shape. The car was equipped with the 3.8-liter XK engine and a brand-new suspension system. Jaguar E-type is one of the most famous and popular Jaguar cars, it is considered to be one of the most obvious carriers of the innovative thinking, style and high-end technology of that time.

In 1961 Jaguar XK E-Type was a huge success at the automotive exhibition in Geneva. In 1962 the model Jaguar Mark X became quite successful on the American market.

In 1968 the company produced the new sedan Jaguar XJ6 (with a 6-cylinder engine), the car that won a lot of awards including “car of the year.” A little later, in 1971, the company created Jaguar XJ 12 with a 12-cylinder engine and 311 h.p., the car that had been the most powerful company’s creation for many years.

In 1975 there appeared Jaguar XJ-S equipped with the E-Type suspension and a modern 4-seat saloon. The car was equipped with a 12-cylinder engine. XJ-S continued the sport traditions of Jaguar winning the World Championship in 1977 and 1978.

In 1986 the company showed the model XJ6 with the developed 24-valve aluminum engine AJ-6 and a modern electric control system including a central computer. The unceasing work on the development of the quality of Jaguars lead to the revival of the traditions of the sport 6-cylinder car.
