Geiger has unveiled a 591-bhp Corvette Z06 Black Edition

It’s been a long time since Geiger has showed such a powerful “anti-green” road monster. The green movement is gaining its power, but Geiger doesn’t care. The company added extra 100 bhp to the powerful of its own accord Chevrolet Corvette Z06. So, welcome the novelty of the summer season – the exclusive convertible Geiger Corvette Z06 Black Edition.

It should be mentioned that despite the “greens” recently there have appeared a number of the American “peppers” in the heart of Europe – in Germany. The fact can be explained in a simple way – the “small and god-forsaken” dollar which in comparison to euro seems even smaller. The Europeans can afford the offshore product at comparatively low prices – put the car on a ferry and take it to Europe. If you want you can drive it immediately, but the is a better option – take it to Geiger, where your American will be pumped with “steroids” so that any native American will envy your brand-new muscle.

So what did Geiger suggest for the 06? Firstly, it is the modernized 591-bhp 7-liter V8 with the max torque of 660 Nm. Not to 100 in 3.6 seconds and the max speed is 330 km/h. The recipe for such an engine is quite simple and typical: the powerful exhaust system, sporty shafts, high-durability cylinders, titan valves plus the new ECU software.

As for the running gear, Geiger experts equipped the Corvette with a stiff helical chassis with lower (by 20 mm) clearance, high-performance braking system and custom rims in the 19- and 20-inch format.

As for the exterior, the gem of the tuning kit is the deep black tint of the paintwork, and the aggressive compact body-kit.

The prices on the new Geiger Corvette Z06 Black Edition have been announced yet.

Technical Summary:

  • Car name – Geiger Corvette Z06 Black Edition
  • Engine – 7 L V8
  • Power – 591 bhp
  • Max torque – 660 Nm
  • Max speed – 330 km/h

At the motor show in NY Dodge unveiled a few “muscle” novelties – a 380-hp Challenger R/T and the basic variant – 235-bhp Challenger SE. Both the variants will be available in stores in the forthcoming autumn.

Both the cars are the vivid examples of the modern American auto manufacturing, where the genes and the sex appeal of the bodies take roots in the past – in the 70s. In fact, the first series of Challenger was shown in January in Detroit – represented by the stunning muscle-car SRT8 with 430-bhp HEMI V8 power unit.

Under the bonnet of Challenger R/T works a 5.7-liter 380-bhp V8 with the max torque of 548 Nm (with the automatic transmission – 540 Nm). The power train is carried out with the help of 6-grade mechanics. Not to 100 km/h takes 6 seconds and the max speed is over 250 km/h.

The poorest in the Challenger model line is the model SE with a 3.5-liter 253-bhp V6 and the max torque of 330 Nm. The car is serially equipped with a 4-grade automatic transmission.

It should be mentioned that Challenger has been designed on the base of Chrysler 300. The car is able to transport up to 5 passengers and the boot capacity is 460 liters.

Serially the car will be equipped with ABS, ESP, braking assistant, tire pressure control system, traction control and some other safety and “smart” systems.

Technical Summary:

  • Car name – Dodge Challenger R/T
  • Engine – 5.7 V8
  • Power – 380 hp
  • Max torque – 548 Nm
  • Max speed – over 250 kmph
  • 0-100 Acceleration – 6 seconds
  • Car name – Dodge Challenger SE
  • Engine – 3.5 V6
  • Power – 253 hp
  • Max torque – 330 Nm

Dodge has slightly upgraded its top car Viper SRT10 which got a more productive power unit and a modified body-kit.

dodge_viper_srt10.jpg

The major difference from the previous version is the engine. The power of the current 8.4-liter one is 612 bhp and the torque – 760 Nm. Not to 100 km/h is dealt with in 3.7 seconds and the max speed is 326 km/h.

As for the exterior of the Viper, the designers created a new bonnet dashed by an air-hole and pockets, plus a small spoiler on the boot cover.

It is peculiar that the representatives of the company have stated the interest towards the American market only. Europe is left without the new wonder. But in fact with the current fuel prices the 612-bhp beast seems an unreasonable purchase for a European.

The price on the renewed Viper SRT10 will start at $85 000 (around 55 000 euro). To cut the long story short. For Europe the price seems unbelievable as it is almost impossible to buy such a car that “dirt cheap” there.

Technical Summary:

  • Car name – Dodge Viper SRT10
  • Engine – 8.4-liter V8
  • Power – 612 hp
  • Max torque – 760 Nm
  • Max speed – over 326 kmph
  • 0-100 Acceleration – 3.7 seconds
  • Price - $85 000

Bugatti Streamliner - a new toy for sheikhs

The piece that was unveiled in Geneva by Bugatti is at the moment the only copy with a very vague future and perspectives. 1 500 000 euro for such a toy is all right only for a couple of crazy sheikhs which are too bored with “ordinary” Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

At the moment that company is working on the new extreme hypercar – the 4-seat Bugatti Streamliner, which will get the front-mounted engines (just like the Veyron) ad the similar classic body shape. The design of the new car was laid upon the group of Maltese designers headed by Roiben Zammit. The designers were pleased to show a few sketches to the public.

As for the power unit of the new car, the company decided on the W12 engine installed on Bentley Continental (the same engine is also used in Rolls-Royce Phaeton)

All the remaining stuff has been left undisclosed and covered in mystic. But it is very likely that Bugatti Streamliner will be unveiled at the next auto show in Geneva.

Technical Summary:

  • Car name – Bugatti Streamliner
  • Boby Type - 4-seat supercar
  • Engine placement - front-mounted engine
  • Engine - W12
  • Unveiling - Geneva 2009
  • Cost - 1 500 000 euro
